CSR Program of Indian Oil

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), India's largest energy company, is committed to supporting the community and environment through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Under the motto "Pahle India Phir Oil," IOCL places national and community interests at the forefront of its business operations. In FY 2023-24, the company's CSR activities were extensive, impacting various sectors and directly contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


Key CSR Initiatives and Their Impact


Cheetah Rehabilitation Project


One of the standout projects was the intercontinental rehabilitation of cheetahs, which aimed to reintroduce cheetahs to their historical habitats in India. This effort aligns with SDG 15 (Life on Land), aiming to restore natural habitats and species. Additionally, by investing Rs. 50.22 crore in habitat management and community-based ecotourism, this project also supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by creating new jobs and livelihood opportunities.


Tuberculosis Elimination Project


The intensified Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination Project is another critical initiative, aligning with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). IOCL has contributed by providing essential medical equipment to help diagnose and treat TB across several Indian states, aiming to significantly reduce the incidence and mortality of the disease.


Comprehensive Cancer Care


IOCL has also focused on healthcare through its Comprehensive Cancer Care initiative, where it contributed Rs. 66.0 crore to expand cancer treatment facilities. This project is directly linked to SDG 3, enhancing healthcare infrastructure and making cancer treatment more accessible and affordable.


IndianOil Vidushi Project


The IndianOil Vidushi project provides specialized coaching to underprivileged girls to help them succeed in engineering entrance exams. This initiative promotes SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), empowering young women through education and opening up new opportunities for them.


Skill Development in Bhubaneswar


The Skill Development Institute in Bhubaneswar is designed to provide vocational training to unemployed youth. This institute supports SDG 4 and SDG 8 by equipping individuals with skills needed for the job market, thus enhancing their employment prospects.


Assam Oil School of Nursing


Addressing the nursing shortage in India, the Assam Oil School of Nursing offers nursing education to underprivileged girls. This initiative supports SDG 3 by increasing the number of qualified healthcare professionals and promotes SDG 5 by empowering women.


Remote Pilot Training for Transgender Persons


A unique program by IOCL is the Remote Pilot Training for Transgender Persons. This program trains transgender individuals to become drone operators, supporting SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by providing equitable employment opportunities.


Fodder Bank and Skill Training in Gannavaram


In Andhra Pradesh, IOCL established a fodder bank and skill training facility to improve the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers. This aligns with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by improving agricultural productivity and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by promoting sustainable agricultural practices.


Integrated Pottery Development in Tiruvallur


Lastly, the Integrated Pottery Development project in Tiruvallur helps local artisans by integrating traditional skills with modern technologies. This project supports SDG 8 by fostering economic growth and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by preserving cultural heritage.
